The last three days have been pretty decent emotional bullshit with ex girlfriend aside. Friday I had to go to the dentist, which is always a thrill. Visited the book store and snatched up a new book I found in a series I like; I didnt know there was another one out, plus another being written. Excellent!
Saturday I went to my friends wedding. I saw a girl I knew from high school, and shes getting married too. She informed me that several other people I know are engaged. I cant believe how many people from high school are already getting married.
The wedding was outside at a lake, in a little grass outcropping near the water. It was a nice, sunny day. Unfortunately, the portable generator went out at the most inconvenient moment: when the bride was rolling up. So, the wedding went on without music. Ack! The grooms father performed the ceremony, and it went really well. Im happy for them both.
The reception had some serious food both the bride and her friend, graduates of a culinary institute in Portland (apparently one of the best on the West coast?) did all of the food, deserts, etc. The reception also had enough alcohol to inebriate an elephant. Whats even better is that there were a ton of minors there, and if a cop happened to roll in for the hell of it, the bride and grooms parents probably would have been arrested. A friend of mine invested in some of the dark punch and became quite giddy.
After the wedding, I went to a monster truck show. Nice change of pace, huh? Even though I was feeling rather emo at the time, the show was good fun. Giant alcohol-burning car-crunching engines. *Tim Allen grunt*
Its amazing how much those trucks break. Almost every one of them had some sort of trouble during the evening. There were some clown cars there, too, that were great. Usually some broken down late eighties vehicle they pulled from the local tow yard that they could kick the shit out of on the dirt course. Broke each and every one of them, too.
Neatest thing was the last truck that was fooling around on the course started to heat up his drive line and the gears at his rear axle. It got so hot that the axles gear housing, where the drive line connects to the axle, started to glow in certain places. Eventually, sparks started to fly and the bottom half of his truck sort of caught on fire.
I havent done jack shit today, just sat around the house, pissing time away on my laptop. Thought the ex might call, but I think shes up getting hay and her cell doesnt work that far out. Most of my friends are out of town today, so Ive been pretty bored. I might go for a walk around the lake and take some pictures after dinner.
