The first live show I ever saw was in the parking lot at Tower Records in Newport. It was Goldfinger and Reel Big Fish performing a free show. A week later I saw my first *real* show. It was D.R.I. Guttermouth and a few other local punk bands that I don't remember. This was back in 1995 when all those bands except for D.R.I. were totally unknown. My brother said that there was the RBF and Goldfinger show and I'm like "who?" "I don't know who Reel Big Fish is, but I saw a Goldfinger video on Are-Oh-Vee, they were ok, it's free no matter what" "Yea, spose there's no sense in not headin' on down there". And, well, the rest is history. You should tell your boy that you want to go see a show at The Showcase sometime soon. It, along with The Whiskey, House of Blues, and the Roxy, are gems of major historical significance here in southern california. Throughout the 90s the showcase was where you could see virtually every band on the radio from then til now. The Whiskey is, of course, the most legendary of all of them. It's been there since the dawn of time and everyone from The Doors to Lynard Skynard to Quiet Riot to NOFX and Rise Against have played there. Me, I love the showcase though. It's no alcohol so you don't have any drunk retards spilling beer on you. The pits there tend to be a lil harder than what I've seen at other places. It's crazy how the security guys can tell the difference between the kids throwing down from those who are fighting. It's also the only place where I saw the security guard do a backflip off of the balcony into the pit. That was at a Guttermouth show and is by far one of the coolest things I've ever seen at any show ever. All of the best shows I've been to have all been at the showcase. It's kindo funny cause everyone there is from OC and the band will say like "HELLO CORONA!" and everyones like "Huh? Oh yea we're in Corona arent we?" I think it's cool cause I used to see movies there when I was a lil kid. I saw all the star wars movies there. And spaceballs.

Del Taco is pretty good for fast food. But if you got the munchies, NOTHING beats Albertos. Or in Costa Mesa Alahandros. Great mexican food and it's open 24hrs.
