On A Slightly Different, Maine Related Note- The Bad
Has anyone noticed that the only news stories that you hear from Maine are really bizarre? Like the guy whose dad attacked him for fucking the family dog?
So Fucked Up-Memories
Maine was actually pretty weird. Like the town, Beals Island, where everyone had the last name of Beal, and the bridge wasn't built until the 1970's.
And how when I was in 9th grade, there was a 12 year old girl who went into labor in the middle of class without ever knowing she was pregnant. Apparently it was a case of incest.
And my junior high gym teacher who was an oxy addict, who I later saw at townie parties flirting with all the 20something townie druggies. Yeah, that was fucked up.
And that crazy store, "the mall" which was a one room shack that sold bait and cigarettes in the middle of nowhere....
And the retarded guy who wandered around on his tip-toes who tried to hug/flirt with every female he saw. His thing was he liked to get all the cans he could (5 cent redemption in maine) so he would sneak into businesses and steal them and such. One time he went into my high school and stole them. My high school started locking the remote doors after that, which was a right pain in the ass when I was late (always.)
The kid in my class who went hunting after school, who got special permission from the principle to keep a shotgun in his truck. He had the thickest Maine accent EVER. and he always said stuff like "gevet too-ah!" (give it to her!) which loosly translated to "go!"
The other kid in my class who took his car and smashed it into a cop car the week before graduation. I wonder if he is still in jail. I think we "went out" for about 5 minutes in junior high. He was pretty good at math. It was pretty sad...
The substitute teacher we had in 7th grade, this crazy lady who told stories about her boyfriend who was in jail, and tried to kiss one of my classmates. We told the principle, and she was fired. She got a job after that at one of the 3 gas stations we had in my town. She always glared at us after that.
