Thesis: still not complete. Is a load of redundant crap. Too much repetition of the word "critique". Advisor has given up and fled to Nanjing, leaving me to set up a defense via conference call. Conference call? From my apartment in China?? It would be easier to jump into a box (with my paper) and fly fedex back to my school! But i persevere.

I preferred Baoji beer to TsingTao during my brief stay. Really any other chinese beer; Tsing Tao or whatever is like budwiser here. or worse. I remember the one american beer you could find anyplace over was Pabst Blue Ribbon. yikes.
The scientist who was our host when we were there gave me a nickname about 30 days into the trip: Baoji Mah-wah. I have no idea if that is spelled right. But it's Baoji beer and those hard bread/pretzel/dough things you can buy everywhere that I ate when the food was questionable.
Baoji is SofaKing great!! I think there was even two kinds, light and dark. And if you could find it cold.....it's gold.

I was on a research trip there, and we went into the mountains north (?) os Xian and then flew down to Kunming and drove up towards Tibet. In many of these little towns they had never seen a white person before (I forget the word they used - guelo sounding). I remember in one little mountain town little kids were running toward the car to get a closer look as we drove by.
