So....I've managed do many things since my little eighth graders graduated. This is the first full summer I have had off in years. I spent most of my college years taking classes during the summer, and now that I am finally a working gal my summers are free, free, free. I thought I was going to get bored, but I have been anything but! I...

I bought Barnaby an XBox 360 for his birthday. He told me I shouldn't have spent so much money on him, but to be honest, I wanted it just as much as he did. I've probably been playing it more than he has as well. He deserves to have something nice right now. He just finished his first full year of grad school, and I...

I had eight students is one of my classes today.
After homeroom, 35% of the total school population was absent. I'm sure that number greatly increased as parents came to pick up their children early to bring them to the protest and march.
I'm so glad to see that people are finally trying to shake things up a little.

Yeah, they were many empty classrooms in San Antonio too. My son is a sp ed teacher and said they had about 20% attendance yesterday. I guess we'll know later if it did any good. smile

Hey, my ex in college was a school teacher, and the kids just drove her crazy. She did biology class.

I remember sometimes she'd just bring in old sci-fi movies for them to watch and they had to point out all the things that we now knew were scientifically incorrect.

I know! I was surprised, too. When the guy was like, "So... when do you think you'd want to move in?" I told him, "Well, what are you doing RIGHT NOW?"

Did you get the job in the big Wu? A handful of teachers from my agency have gone to the high school in recent years and they love it.

I hear that subbing for bd/ed special ed classes gets you straight into heaven, so you've got that going for you! Seriously, so much of working with those kids is dependent on building relationships, I can't imagine how tough it must be to have to sub.

I am done with college! Well, I still have a mess of grading to do for my students, but technically I am done!
I also might have a tutoring job lined up until something more permanent comes along. I'd be working with behavioral problem students one on one in a Providence middle school.
I am sick, but I can't complain because I've been sleeping in,...

Thanks. I called out of work yesterday and wanted to post a joyous pic but that was the best thing I got when searching "snow day."

We put Dusty to sleep last night. The cancer was starting to cause him pain, and he would not eat unless someone sat by his bowl and stroked his head while he slowly chewed. We decided it was best to put him down before he started to suffer.
He was not scared, and I held him in my arms as they administered the drugs. My...

Things are going well. I am back at the middle school, and I am so much happier there. I have three seventh grade classes, and my students are crazy, but I love it. I play Mad Libs with them because it helps them practice their parts of speech. In health they are studying drugs so when we play they give me verbs such as snort,...
