So...my in-laws are coming to visit, their first time to our new house. This means that I'm about to go into crazy cleaning mode - probably nonstop for the next two days.

I was wondering...for those who live with a spouse or significant other: Which makes you more nervous, your parents visiting or your in-laws visiting? I think I was more nervous about my parent's...

Kids are kids. Most of them are sweet and they try so hard to please you, but they just don't pay attention for very long. I'm having fun though. I have to do for workshops tommorow. Yikes!

Good luck with the in-laws.

His - his mom forgets that we both work full time and have lives and is very critical about how we keep our house - course she has a cleaning lady and doesn't work at all, but what can you do?

I agree with not_tom about the frontline - I'm not a big fan of flea collars, our pets while I was growing up wore them and it never really seemed to work.... Best of luck.

I've never had trouble with a/c before. The thing is that we're almost to heating season here in PA. Yikes!

On Saturday, we went to go see Carlos Mencia at the Comedy Zone in Charlotte. I think his material is very funny, and I recommend his show Mind of Mencia on Comedy Central.

However this update is about what happened after the show. Carlos Mencia went outside the club to sign autographs and talk to fans. There was a table set up with his merchandise...

Things I wish my mom had told me, part 1:

That the gray hair would start at 27. And that I would have to, as my dad says, "pay real money" to have it covered up and colored every six weeks.

And why is it that you have to take geometry in school (which I NEVER use), when what you really need is a class...

i kinda remember some kind of 'tax' lessons in a class that I had called "Street Law." I think that was when I was in 8th grade. I heard that they stopped offering that class the next year though. Strange.

I went to the dentist today with a (slight) dental emergency. I broke off a small piece of tooth and while I wasn't in pain, it WAS annoying as heck. I had to cold call a dentist (because I'm new in town) and I was lucky to find someone to fit me in the next day.

I think it's funny when their Yellow Pages ad...

sounds like it would be the perfect distance from your place to his house wink

All I know, is that I never had a bad experience so I never used to have a problem with dentists...

Until I worked for one! People tried to warn me, "Kitsch, don't do it, they're worse than LAWYERS!!!"
And I thought, "No way." heh. They are, and I worked for the worst one of all. So now its been 4 years since I've moved here ( blush ) and I know I need to go, but god I dread it.

Ok...I know I haven't written in a while...but it's not my fault. I was out of town Labor Day weekend at a friend's wedding. When I got back, I had 18 hours to clean the house before my parents showed up for their first visit to NC.

Then I went to Myrtle Beach with my parents for four days. I got home Sunday and took...

Wow I would LOVE to go to a Ramones museum. Too bad you can't drive to Germany! As for the "welcome to NC" party... I believe it's going to be the first weekend in November. Just waiting for SouthernBelle to check her schedule and post an event in SGNC.

Btw... if you didn't know... there's a Ramones group on SG that I run. Isn't as active as I'd like it to be... but thought i'd toss ya an invite anyways.

RAMONES

Growing up in Alabama, I'd always heard about Camille and how destructive it was. Katrina is Camille times a thousand.

I've also been through some close calls with tornados. This is a tornado times a million.

This week has been one of those "Do you remember where you were when..." kind of weeks. I'll remember Katrina.

Ok, I don't know what channels ya'll watch, or if anyone even watches tv much, but I am sick of seeing the same commercial over and over again.

The Game Show Network airs a preview to the movie "The Exorcism of Emily Rose" 17 times during one hour of "The Amazing Race". Ok, 17 may be a bit high, but it sure feels like 17...

If I have to see that damn Arby's "ranch-tooth" commercial one more time, PEOPLE ARE GOING TO DIE! mad

As for encores, everyone knows they're going to play more, but I think a band making us whoop and holler to show how much we love them and want them to play again is kind of self absorbed.

Those fucked up Burger King chicken fries commercials frighten me. The thought of a group of drunk, sweaty moshers passing around a plate of fried meat at a concert makes me physically ill. puke

I had a great time rollerskating - but was bummed about the music. 50 cent? Britney Spears? Sorry, but it will never live up to Rapper's Delight and YMCA. Oh well, at least they still do the Hokey Pokey.

Ok, I'm getting bored with the same routine.

1. Wake up/breakfast/shower
2. Bubble wrap
3. Packing tape
4. Boxes
5. Search the pantry for dinner (still got the canned ham and pumpkin pie filling...)
6. Go to bed

Thank goodness my family is coming over for a visit. Someone to talk to (other than my cats) while packing might make this week go by faster....

The universe hates me. It will not let me sleep in. Ever.

Oh I try...but then I get the 630 AM call...that's a wrong number. Or my dentist calling at 800 AM, reminding me of my appointment next week. Don't even get me started on telemarketers.

Ok, so it's Monday, but I really needed to sleep in. Last week was crazy-busy with the closing on...
