I remember a Frantics sketch where an Elementary School teacher brought in people of various faiths to discuss creation myths. The efforts of some Americans to exchange the teaching of evolution in favour of funny myths in their schools lately has brought it to mind. My dad thinks that this is great because of course there is a God and of course his word is true and of course the earth is several thousand years old and of course the physical evidence must back that up. It stands to reason. (It doesn't stand up to the evidence, but whatever.) I'm in favour of it because every potential American scientist who joins the clergy instead paves the way for a Canadian to win that lucrative job in the biotech sector.

So anyways, here's a part of that sketch; the one that I heard when I was about 12 years old on CBC radio:

Egyptian Man: The ancient Egyptians believed that the Earth was created by the Sun God, Ra, from a pile of dung!

Teacher: Okay, class, is there any evidence to back up that theory? ... Timmy?

Timmy (hesitantly): ... Calgary?

Teacher: Very good!
