I spent as much time as possible this weekend recording music. It wasn't as much time as I had hoped, but I guess I have to look at it like something is more than nothing.
There are two songs in particular that I'm working on and neither of them were written by me. That's a good thing. With the possible exception of some of my "inappropriate kids songs", the stuff I write is total shite. Not just shite; dull shite. Don't worry - I have no expectations beyond a debatably pleasant waste of time. I just like making music. And don't worry part 2: I'm not going to make you hear it. You're just going to hear ABOUT it.
The first song is originally by the Magnetic Fields. It's called the Book of Love. It's extremely cynical and silly, mixed with moments of heartfelt beauty. Damn, I love that song. I was sitting around playing ukulele one day and suddenly I was playing it. It's dead simple. That's another thing to love about it.
The second song is what I like to think of as the unofficial SG theme song: Shake Your Blood. So far it's just vocals, ukulele and djembe, but I think I'll add bass to it. It's more than a little bit baffling that my ukulele version of a heavy metal song ends up sounding bluegrass. How the hell does that work? I dunno. All I know is I want to re-create the video using actual Suicide Girls. I'll be Lemmy, but instead of a bass I'll play a ukulele and instead of some rock god leather jacket I'll wear a bad Hawai'ian shirt.
And now for something completely different: Larry King is being interviewed on tv right now with his wife. What the fuck is THAT about? That's some cray fucking shit. That's even crazier than the Crank Yankers-level questions he tends to ask. My personal favourite: "If evolution is true, why are there still monkeys?" My roommate and I try to come up with the ultimate Larry King idiot question. I think I'm winning with, "so... would you say that you're on my show right now?"

I just spat water all over my desk from laughing.
Thank you.
