In honour of my newest SG friend: 20 things about pough, who is as dull as shit.

.) I chew on my fingers a lot; right around the nails and the tips. I keep my nails pretty short, too, by biting them as well. In fact, too short to accomplish some very basic and essential tasks like picking up change I've dropped. Damn dimes are way too thin.

.) I work as an internet programmer. I get paid to browse the web. What's that? Oh, sorry; not browse. I get paid to make the websites that YOU browse and that I browse on my own time. Right. Sorry.

.) My hair is naturally overgrown, spreading to many places that cause some shallow people to shudder. Screw you. It's my body and if it makes you unhappy, feel very free to be unhappy! :-p

.) I am allergic to other peoples' allergies.. If I see your eyes get red and start to water, mine will do the same. I'm also strangely allergic to telling jokes and sometimes I get the same symptoms right around the punchline. Is it ever funny hearing a joke told by some randomly crying dude? You might think so, but most people don't laugh; they just ask me why I'm crying.

.) I have been playing guitar (poorly) for over 20 years, but I'm hoping to eventually be a mediocre player.

.) I am a morning person who seems to only date women who either get vicious in the mornings or exist in a zombie-like trance for the first hour or two. I like the zombie ones the best because they don't seem to mind the morning sex.

.) Nothing makes me feel more at home than the ocean; not even the mountains, even though their presence is like a hug from mom to me. And their lack is like a missing toque on a cold day.

.) I read A LOT and only retain the unimportant bits. I can read murder mysteries more than once and still end up surprised.

.) I like taking pictures. Perhaps too much.

.) I never bothered with post-secondary schooling because the idea of paying someone else money so that I can work hard is anathema to me.

.) I'm not a great swimmer; I keep forgetting to breathe when I swim and that's poor form.

.) I have a motorcycle that I bought as a joke, but nobody laughed. Everyone said that it suited me. That was the last thing I expected.

.) I bought a nice bed cheap off a man who lived down the hall from my cousin. He associated it with an abusive relationship and wanted it to go far, far away. The only abuse it's seen since has been "self-abuse" which in my opinion isn't really abuse.

.) I lost about 50 pounds in 2004 by doing what those crazy doctors recommend: eating healthy and getting some exercise. Who would have thought they'd be such health experts, huh?

.) I talk to my parrot a LOT. One day she surprised me by talking back to me. She said "hello sweetheart" and then made kissy sounds. Now she only says "hello sweetheart" when she's trying to kill one of her toys, although she did just say "hello" right now as I was typing this.

.) I usually assume that people don't remember me or want to bother talking to me so I almost always walk right past people I know in public places. Sometimes my assumptions have led to some strange encounters. Poor Norma...

.) I grew up in the suburbs (age 1-4,6), on a farm age 7-22) and for one year on a small island (5).

.) The first concert I ever attended was in 1986. I was 14. It was a-ha. I'm not ashamed. I have... different tastes in music than most people. I still buy a-ha albums when they come out. The last time was in Japan a few years ago. I also bought Beck, Ash, Foo Fighters and Kings of Convenience. The Kings of Convenience CD in Japan has a bonus track: an a-ha cover!

.) I am exceedingly fond of dark hair, dark eyes, small breasts, gentle and reciprocal sex and listening to women, thus fulfilling none of my stereotypical obligations as a man. Oh, and sports and video games bore me. Stereotypes are for the masses. But I can still be an inconsiderate asshole if you ask me nicely. Sometimes even if you don't.

.) I lived with my cousin for about 8 or 9 years. Then he got married and bought a house. I moved into his (their!) basement suite because he's never going to get rid of me. And I've known his wife for longer than he has. I even took her out on a single date that was (thankfully) unimpressive.

I've been surprised by how many people have commented on the use of "dingus." To me it was just a funny blob of soundage to throw into the sentence.

But then, when I first wake up, pretty much all words are funny blobs of soundage, so hey.

Also I do not believe I have ever been on an etymological journey. The tickets seem to be hard to find.
