Some days I have to sit in on some fucked up meeting. I ended up talking to these people who want to give my grandfather an award next week at some kind of gala, which I think is a little bit odd. Dont get me wrong, my grandfather has done a lot for the community (as well as myself), theres just one thing that bothers me. My grandfather passed away twenty years ago. Still, several times a year there is somebody who wants us to sit through some crap rubber chicken dinner so we can get a plaque and they can sell some tickets. My father and uncles have done quite a bit since then, including helping people become citizens, building parks, and giving a million dollars to the Smithsonian to help build a museum here in town. Where's they're plaque? Fleh.
On the upside, I dont have to go to this one. Im going to be Louisiana breaking the bank at a sleazy casino. Rock on.
Ive also been having these weird anxiety dreams. Whenever I get ready to go back to school, I start getting them. Theyre not even the usual, Im walking around naked nightmares. Theyre more like Im walking around naked and there is a monster that is stalking and eating family and friends and if I turn around itll kill me too dreams.
Bwahaha. My birthday is still two weeks away, and my family and friends have already just about bought out my wish list.
More TKWNDP.
Sometimes I wonder what kind of person I am after I write scenes with ugly people doing ugly things.

TKWNDP Tentative Title Reversal of Fates
Alex is now spending his nights trying to make a difference as The Samaritan, as the newspapers call him. (As he becomes more of a nuisance to different mob and gang factions, he gets some other names. Alex himself just thinks of himself as Alex.) Unfortunately, he finds that tying up gang bangers and leaving them outside of a police station with a note proclaiming them muggers does not result in convictions. His best friend David Hekenbach is not surprised and urges him to give up risking his life. (Alex tells him about his adventure saving Carl, but not before finding out about the father.)
At work, he is nominally promoted. Alex is made head of the machine shop/motor pool. His staff comprises of a few stoned teens who dont know where they are. We see the small fleet of unmarked white vans, miscellaneous tools, and hiding places, and we cannot help but think of the batcave. Alex smiles.
As for his problem with convictions, Alex is on the edge of figuring something out when he sees a news report about a pair of Bonnie and Clyde style thrill killers. Theyre particularly elusive as they dont have any pattern. One minute (lets call them Ken and Julia) are robbing convenience stores, then theyre drugstore cowboys. They get off on the killing.
We jump ahead now. (This is the bit I was afraid would end too much like the first arc.) Picture the ending of Pulp Fiction with Honey Bunny and Pumpkin in the caf. Alex has caught up with them, but hes afraid of going in shooting or having the police set into motion a standoff. Thats when Alex sees his opportunity. Ken is scouting the back, and Julia hears a strange noise. Not waiting to take chances, she grabs a hostage and tells him to come out. He does. Alex is right behind with a gun to Kens head.
Julia is near frothing. She screams that if Alex does not let her lover go, shell kill her hostage (for dramatic effect one of those instantly adorable little old ladies). Alex says that is not going to happen.
Im the one holding a hostage one of us cares about.
She surrenders, and they are tied up and left for the police. Detective Ritchie is interviewing the little old lady, and she maintains that the Samaritan is a hero and that he was only bluffing. We see Alex slinking awaynot sure if she is right.
