Sometimes I'll tune in to oldies to relax and wonder; what happened to music? I don't mean to sound like a bloody hippie but what happened to pop music? Most oldies were popular during their heyday and you can't deny that, aside from any nostalgic value they might have, most of them are pleasing to the ear. In fact most of them are about something sincere to that artist. "Artists" today, on the other hand, are just making music that appeals to the lowest common denominator. Most have sold out before they've even been signed.
OK, *deep breath* I don't know where that came from!? It's not what I meant to say and is a gross overuse of the word 'most', but I think I was watching rapcity and it put me in a bad mood. Not all music is like that, don't get me wrong. There's alot of stuff I like out there but I'm ashamed to say that, accousticly speaking, I don't have a whole lot I can listen to now. Sometimes I deeply appreciate Homer Simpson's sentiment: Everyone knows rock music attined perfection in 1974. It just seems to me as if they're generally selling image as much as their music and that bothers me. And furthermore, let me gramps it on up here one last final time when I say that most rock is either too depressing or just plain inaudible, no I'm serious. How is it possible that with time, sound quality has gotten seemingly worse? As though ppl forgot how to set each instrument's level's properly so as to be in harmony with the vocals. Every time I go to a show the tracks sound like crap and I'm always told that the performance did the person/band no justice. Do right by me you hosers! I am big on tonnes of new genres of electronica and on crossbreed sub-genres but when it comes to good old rock and roll I have a void which needs to be filled.
Someone rescue me! I've said it before but this time I am serious, it's not some challenge, it's a cry for help, a call for mercy if you will.
PLEASE WRITE ME WITH THE NAME OF SOMEONE/SOME BAND WHO YOU ABSOLUTELY ADORE AND CAN'T IMAGINE SOMEONE NOT FEELING.
If I take a shine to anything suggested, you will have my undying affection and appreciation. Thanks. Stay cool kiddos.
