Today is a good day. Got back late last night from another weekend up at my family's land. My cousin brought up a tractor, and it was a godsend. We cleared the huckleberry and manzanita stumps out of nearly half a mile of old road we're restoring in a single morning . Couldn't do anything about the creek that now flows across part of the road, but that's for another day.
Sunday was a burn day, and we burned a huge pile, again thanks to that tractor. We had a huge, dead, rotten pine tree up against one of the meadows, busy being an eyesore and a fire hazard. No more, but it was HUGE tree -- the butt rounds were over three feet in diameter . Needed the tractor to move the damn things. We also split nearly four cords of firewood out of another couple of dead fir trees. Not bad for a single weekend -- I like mechanization.
And I have an interview for a consulting gig in about three hours. Life is good .
