My mother is methodical, straight-laced, and often depressingly conventional. That is to say, my polar opposite. Except when she's not.

This past Tuesday, she called me to tell me she is coming to California, from Massachuesetts, tomorrow.

That's the kind of thing I do, and my sister sometimes does. It is NOT the sort of thing my mother does. Very strange. On the other hand, I do actually like my mother and seeing her will be nice.
