So I went to Petsmart yesterday to put my foster cats (mother and 2 kittens) on display in hopes of finding them a real home.
They put my cats in a large cage on the floor. They had one other cat and one dog there also. In addition to the cats and dog they had 4 rabbits, 1 gerbil, and 2 rats.
As chance would have it they put the rats on the floor next to my cats. They were just close enough that my mother cat could extend her paw and just reach the rats cage with the tip of her claws. The rats came out and put their noses out of the cage and my cat reached for them and just kinda patted it on the nose. I think that she may have taken a swipe at them if they had been closer, but that was not the case. The funny thing though is that the rat kept its nose out of the cage for so long. They "played" for about 30 to 45 seconds. Maybe the rat knew it was in no real danger. I wonder if my kittens would play with the rats. The rats were almost as big as my kittens. I don't think my kittens could hurt the rats, but I think if provoked the rats might do serious damage to the kittens.

Hah, I could never see Joe saying that, but it sure sounds funny!
Thanks for showing me because it was interesting.
((edited to add: "and the guy rode a stationary bike the whole hour we were there watching the triathalon!"))
