This is kinda a sad post.
Some of you know my baby kitty Mooch....he's not really a baby; he's a year old, but he's a tiny cat. He's only about five pounds (if that) and he's pretty small. Anyway, the reason his name is Mooch is cos whenever someone eats in the house, he's always sitting, just staring at you. I found it really odd when I came home Sunday from work and he wasn't sitting watching me eat. I figured he was probably sleeping somewhere and went on with my night. Now, when I climbed into bed and he didn't jump into bed with me, I knew something was wrong.
At first I wasn't worried; just figured he was hiding, so I just checked his normal spots; by my brother's door, in the dirty clothes, under beds, ect. Nowhere to be found. I started worrying a little bit and went to the basement to see if he was down there. I looked EVERYWHERE. Nowhere. By this time I was really nervous and started to get a little frantic. I searched the house from top to bottom and couldn't find him. I woke my dad up and he told me that now that he thought about it, he hadn't seen him since lunchtime. Now was I worried. I woke everybody else up and no one had seen him since that morning or lunchtime. I was convinced he got out. I hoped he was just hiding somewhere and would show up. Even if he did get out, he's gotten out before and always came back in the morning. I wasn't too worried (although I did lose sleep). He was a little vicious, knew to stay away from cars, and still had his front claws just in case.
I became really worried when Monday morning rolled around and he didn't turn up. He always came back by seven in the morning, because that's when we put the wet cat food out. It was 10:30 when I left for work and he still wasn't back. I put some cat food out for him and had no choice but to leave. I came home that night and some of the food was gone, and there was a little bit of black cat hair on the plate (he's a huge shedder) so I knew he was in the neighborhood and was probaby just hiding from the rain and would come back again when it stopped. I finally got some sleep that night, but everytime I fell asleep I had dreams of him getting hit by a car. Even still I worry about driving down the road near our house and finding him.
It's Wednesday and I've seen no sign of him. I'm sure he's on the block somewhere. Knowing him and his personality, it's my guess that he got hungry again and went to somebody's door. He's adorable and anybody in their right mind would take him in. He's a little whore when it comes to food. He'll love anybody for a bite of a cheeseburger.
I'm staying positive and I'm hoping maybe he'll sneak out of their house and come back. I've got flyers all over the neighborhood and I live right down the road from the Capital Area HS so I've been stopping in. I really hope I get him back, but in all honesty, I'm alright with him being with someone else. As long as he's safe and taken care of, I can't complain. I just can't stand the thought of him outside and cold. Brr.
