It has started, the preperations, the good-byes, packing (still working on that one), negotiations for orders (not going well at all), leave papers, and transfer orders. I am leaving Japan, and I have had to say good-bye to a very good friend, one of the best.
I should be excited about going home, but the fact is I have made Japan home, and now I have to tear up what roots I have laid, to go to school, and eventually on to somewhere else. I still do not know where I am going to end up after a short school in the Chicago area. The way things are looking I am going to have to go with the Marines. This is a pretty scary propsition, I have been to Iraq once and I really do not want to go back. I have done my sea time, and it is time for a little shore duty. I know that if I end up FMF (Fleet Marine Force) I will be forced to get into better shape than I am in now (this is good), mostly to keep my ass safe.
I do not know if I will be able to pull off the Iceland orders
and orders to Italy may be just as hard to get. I have not looked into orders to Japan too seriously because I know if I say Japan I will be in Okinawa, and not Yokosuka where a lot of my friends are.
The boards that have the new openings do not open for a few days, so I still may be able to pull something out of my ass and get something good.
I am planning on being back in California around the 4th until the 19th then it's Chicago where I will freeze my ass off. I need to get a flight up to Oregon so that I can see my sister and her family as well as my Grandfather up in Washington.
I have figured it out I am procrastinating too much. Time to get off my lazy ass and get to work, time to cut the loose ends and get moving.
