"With rank comes responsability" Great, so much for flying low under the radar. With my promotion I get my own department at the clinic. I'm going to be the head of our supply department. I guess that I did such a good job with fixing the problems with inventory control and making sure that the clinic, fire department, search and rescue, EOD, and Sea Bee's have the were properly stocked that now I get to do the same for the rest of the clinic's other departments. Not a big deal concidering that I took care of about 80% of the supplies that the clinic uses. Now I also get to play handy man, vehicle mantnace scheduling, fix our warehouse, etc etc.
The best part of this is that I will no longer have to worry about working for / with a micromanaging idiot that can't understand that if something isn't broken not to try and fix it. Now it's not my problem anymore, but I feel for all the people that still work for him. Today I saw him actually chew someone out for making a copy of some medical records a different way then he would have done it. His way was much better, or so he thought. Never mind that he wanted this guy to feed the papers in a whole stack at a time and copy both sides of the paper even if there wasn't anything on the back sides, ignoring the pages that were stapled together that would jam our brand new machine, and the old carbon copy forms that look like they will turn to dust if the copying machine even looks at them wrong. Rant rant rant rave rave rave....
It was just plain stupid, the guy was taking his time copying the records one at a time, so that he didn't accidently miss a stapled page, or end up copying the back sides of forms that didn't have anything on them, and since he was set up to copy both sides of a document one by one he was able to cut the record size almost in half, and saved at least 1/2 a thing of paper while doing so.
I guess what rubbed me the wrong way is that before the promotion I didn't know anything because I wasn't the same rank as this guy (even though I have to teach him how to do everything) and when I became the same rank (now I'm a threat I could take his job away) but I now knew even less about what everything because I'm a "junior" in the same rank. Well shit howdey! Of course I'm junior to him, he hasn't advanced in rank for maybe 8 years minimum. All that tells me is that he's not very smart (can't do well enough on the test to advance) a shit bag (bad evaluations = no promotion) Has not demostrated the ability or motivation to make it to the next rank. I'm going to laugh if it ever comes down to my making the next rank before he does. (quite possible since I'm thinking of asking for a school that comes with another promotion when I finish..
