So a friend of mine who does not know that I am tattooed and pierced (other than ears, those are obvious) stated that he hated tattoos and piercings because they are 'fake.'

This made me think, "What is fake?" Is fake changing my outside to match my inside, or leaving my outside the same as everyone else and being the same.

I'd rather show my insides on my outside, and since I can't turn myself inside out, tattoos and piercings it is!
