humans are truely unique creatures. Every plant and animal has something of a defence from predators, whether it be speed, big horns or teeth, or the ability to climb or flight. all except for humans really. who'd of thought that the ability to learn could grant creatures the power to overcome nature. ironic really, how nature made us, now we have taken power and think absolutly nothing of it (nature). maybe some day we'll even take power over time and space.
anyway, its funny. i never would think the ability to learn could have kept us alive for so long, let alone be our greatest boon. look at what else is out there. dinosaurs, lions, cheetahs, wolves... just one of those could slaughter so many of us.
never has a double edged blade been so sharp.
look at what we've created with this gift. we have totally changed the natural order of the world. the laws of nature no longer apply. and i dont doubt that soon the laws of time and space will also fall to us.
besides that, why would any other animal kill an other? food, territoty and in some cases dominance. humans will kill others out of greed, contempt, sport, or just because. we even have people killing themselves. and there are no reasons for the absolute lack of respect we can show. so many things appear to be where they are for no other reason than for someone to believe is there soley for them to absoluty obliterate, this again cant be natural
knowledge is power, and it can be the most powerful weapon. its even more powerful than time or space, and its all bestowed upon a single, ugh, species? race? phylem? (heh, and i aspire to be a bio technologist). a snake chasing its tale is a universal symbol meaning absolute power/absolute corruption. if the snake chases its tale alls good, thats the absolute power part, if however the snake catches its tale and tries to eat or bites it, thats absolute corruption. the link i get between symbol and meaning is some thing with power should strive to maintain a balance in the world, but once greed sets in that creature will start destroying things
i guess greed then is natural, as are other feelings, throwing us back under the laws of nature. i wonder if anxiety and depression are also natural. i doubt it. iv never heard of any other animals commiting suicide. i guess thats whats refered to as human nature.
but i degress, iv strayed far from my original thought
our greatest boon is also our greatest bane, and with the threat of nuclear, biological, or chemical holacaust, it could also prove to be our ultimate bane. and how powerful will the weapons of the future be. such power is uncontrollable by anything other than a perfectly beneviolet creature.
some people often wonder if god is so good why do bad things happen?? would it be possable that even he could be corruptable by power. the bible does say we are made in his likeness.
