You should watch this if only to hear a different perspective

I myself agree with Mr. Pinchbeck in that we, as a species, need to transform our thoughts and ourselves in order to survive. I think part of this involves recognizing that while we may have caused a lot of damage to the world in our evolutionary past, we have also accomplished and created many wonderful and amazing things. I think we can see beyond our failings in a material world and imagine a better one where we can expand our knowledge and explore our world while maintaining a balance between the ambitions of individuals to succeed, societies to flourish and the maintenance of the natural world.
Instead of crying about the end of the world and hating on everyone and consumer product, we should be talking to our neighbors about cleaning the local parks, establishing greenways and community gardens; looking at ways to manage waste and to create our own energy to power our homes and new ways of preserving old existing structures instead of building new ones; and where we must build new, build up and make it jive with the environment. We need to educate ourselves and be rational rather than let zealots sway our hand either way though we should always err on the side of caution. Our habits need to change and I see that they are.
Ok, enough from me, I need to figure out a sustainable way to power my PS3 and TV (I try to download rather than buy packaged games ; )
If you've never checked out Treehugger.com check it out if you haven't; it may change the way you view environmentalism, society and technology.

Here's Graham Hancock and Daniel Pinchbeck. Neet-o
