I love beetles! I was just outside on the porch, drinking a beer and trying to get a sizable June Bug (actually a ten-lined June beetle) to "hiss" but I think he was just grateful I picked him off the ground and let him run around my arm before I put him back on a cedar.
Is it strange that I got that kid playing with a puppy feeling letting him crawl all over my hand?
I remember when I was a kid, how much I loved insects! I used to read up on them in the Encyclopedia Britannica and National Geographic. I wanted to be an entomologist when I grew up so I could play with bugs all the time! Then life happened. Still, I love to watch them when I have idle time. Endlessly fascinated as they go about ruling the world, paying us little mind as we go about our silly little lives; so engrossed in our arrogance.
The meek shall inherit the earth? Foolish! They already rule it with many legs and exoskeletons and endless variations of amazing!!
