Yesterday Krško literally exploded. 11000 fans of Speedway occupied the city and the stadium for one of the best races this season. The 10th Slovenian GP was aa spectacle worthy of even the biggest fans of the sport.
I was working as a guide for the local turist agency, so unfortunately I didn't have the time to see all the activities surrounding the main event. Mostly we were driving or accompanying the pit crew's, reporters and other visitors around the city. Like taking Nicki Pedersens manager to pizzeria for the whole crew, or go pick up a group of polish reporters to the hotel. Also few sightseeing tours around the city for the foreign fans.
I finished just 10 minutes before the opening ceremony which meant we got in just in time for the start.
The crowd was awesome and the people here really come for the sport not just to cheer for our riders but for everyone. Sadly the local hero Matej Žagar didn't deliver. After 3 consecutive finals and winning the previous GP in Poland the home circuit remains cursed. But nonetheless the overall victory has gone for the first-time ever here in Krško to everyones favourite the old dog Greg Hancock (USA)
all in all it truly was a spectacle. And for a town of only 6000 residents to host an event like this we can surely be proud of ourselves.
I'll upload some pictures tomorrow because my damn phone is on strike again and it just won't let me or is it maybe some glitch on the site.
