I've been back from San Francisco since last Tuesday. I was waiting to update until I had photos to show you..but that's obviously not happening for a while because I have over 1000 photos to look through. I haven't even seen them all yet!!
I had a great time...we did so much:
Sausalito,
Alcatraz,
Napa,
Santa Cruz (tried to do the beach..waay too cold),
Monterey (twice; we went back another day for the aquarium),
Big Sur,
Yosemite National Park (at 110 degrees it was hard to do much, so we laid on a rock in a river and then hiked up to a waterfall when the sun set a bit),
Muir Woods (hiking),
and ALL over SF and rode the cable cars on our last night there.
It was beautiful...more stories will come with the pictures.
but the weather was crazy...when we first got there it was fine..clear and beautiful...although there were huge drops in temperature at night (I had to bring a change of clothes everywhere in case I got cold).
I was told that I had to go to the beach in Santa Cruz...so we did...and there were tons of people on the beach and in the water...but i was absolutely FREEZING!! maybe it's because I'm used to steamy NYC summers, but it was far too cold for me to enjoy it.
it was pretty chilly all along the coast and inland it was super hot...it was really hot in Napa, and like I said 110 in Yosemite ...it was so weird to go from one extreme to another within a matter of hours. SF was in the 50s and 60s.
and when we drove along the coast from Santa Cruz to Monterey to Big Sur and back, all day it went back and forth from warm to chilly and windy and back to warm and ultimately back to chilly/cold in the evening...very strange.
later on in our stay the FOG and winds and mist set in...apparently this is normal SF summer weather and the nicer weather earlier in the week was rare.
so I did have a great time...and it is beautiful over there, but the unpredictable weather wasn't my cup of tea.
Bobby has fallen in love with SF and that area...he is now depressed about being back in NYC and wants to move there.
I actually probably wouldn't mind so much (it's not like I have a great job tying me down
)
but I get really sad when I think about leaving my Mom here...I'm the only family she has and I would hardly ever get to see her...She and I are SUPER close, and I just don't know...
not to mention all of my friends who I don't get to see all that often as it is
:sigh:
I'm really torn
he says he definitely wants to move there within the next few years
and I want to be with him and I do like it over there
but I'm not sure I'm ready to leave NY yet

Anyway, the mom issue is tough, but if you don't break the dependence it will never end. My mom is very similar in that she never has enough money, but if I start helping her, it doesn't end. Luckily, she married, and now they're sort of in the their own world...
