i had a dream last night that i was Conan the Barbarian. many asses were kicked in extremely colorful(mostly gore-streaked red) and impossibly macho ways and my girl rubbed on my leg while i battled overwhelming odds in mindblowingly sexy, vivid ways.

Hey, just taking this amazing opportunity I've had to log in and say hi to everyone I can. Hope you're not where I'm at... and that life is treating you well.

a man looks at thirty and doesn't quite know what to think, feel, or do in the face of it. popular culture tells me to posses halls and rooms, brick and tile of my own and be half-gone to filling it with dust of days dead, slowly replacing the colorful handmade threadbare detritus of youth...

i've been here two years now, and find the decade entirely satisfying. imagine combining all that is exciting about the twenties with a stronger sense of self, a greater willingness to risk, a keener wit, more dimensional perspective, a level of experience closer to wisdom, a deeper appreciation for what you truly value, an increased capacity for joy, a greater determination to make what matters really matter, a devotion to your bliss, a compassion for yourseld & others, a dynamic relationship with your darkness, and an exponential sense of wonder at the fact that everything just keeps getting more amazingly possible. and wonderful. and hey, in your case, you are accompanied by someone who amplifies the best in every way.
your thirties are going to destroy your twenties, kid. enjoy em.

love is a narrowing of focus. I've always said I didn't want kids...that way they're all my kids. No parents want equality. They'd like equality for everyone else and just a little better for their kids.
And ah, romantic (not to be confused with Romantic era) love...is fictional. Clever, but not real. See, we came up with the idea when the church got big, started accusing man of being Lustful. romantic love was our response, spinning that general love that the religion was proclaiming into a justification for sexual action. And lust? That was the interpretation religious fools slapped onto what we now recognize as a basic, evolutionary physiological drive operating the way it should.
love on that upper level, the humanitarian consideration for life, is essentially moral, and thus arguably rational. Narrowing that love (thus narrowing the parameters that set the moral standard) cannot be moral. (questions of moral relativism can pop in now; I'll leave that alone) that "love" is also not rational on any level other than evolutionary (in which case it's not conscious rationality at work). The procreative drive is its own morality/rationality, and that's all you're left with.
That's my thinking, anyway.
Maybe if I was in love, I wouldn't think it was fictional...

Look like a Viking? I've heard that before. Also, Vikings pillage, they don't maraud.
Love on the mind, eh? I'll take a shot. You ask many questions about love, as many have. Some of the most complex things are really the most simple. Love to me is fundamental and that makes it simple. In a world of illusions, dreams, and emptiness, love is the only source of truth. If you have the courage to push your mind to the side and follow it, letting your heart lead the way, no matter what the consequences, you will find truth in your life. Otherwise it will always elude you. This is the only way I can explain what I know it to be. It is a guide, and it is salvation.
PS - you dig that "tears in rain" scene from BladeRunner, don't you? I caught that reference above.

Orwell said that one of the reservations he had with Gandhi's philosophy is he didn't believe in the morality of love/ friendships... or, I assume, friendships. He thought you should treat everyone equally.
I can't hang with that.
All I know is, I walk fortyseven mile-a barbwire, got a cobrasnake for a necktie and tell me who do you love? Who do you love?

Bingo.
Anything with the haiku format (575) that lacks the thematic haiku characteristics (nature/seasonal reference & the contrast) is a Senryu. My Frogger one is arguably a haiku. As is this:
Loud summer sunset
As we arrive to share this
Cicada supper.

How's the neck feeling after a couple days?

Are you still being lovy-dovy? Good. Stay that way. It certainly beats Guinnes-riddled sadness and macabre contemplations.
ever heard that song 'pictures of you'?
yeah well...
edit: yes. it is a Cure song from probably one of the top five best albums of all time, Disintergration.
also, if i were god and i didn't believe in myself...would that be blasphemy?

edit 2: if anyone has a gmail account and has an invite left, i'd like to get one. there aer...

Yes, heard the song.
Not sure, since you're the deity I suppose it'd be up to you.
And, since you already got an invite, I won't bother offerig one.

I saw that torso shot of yourself you posted in your lady's journal. Unless you used camera effects or post processing, I can already see a difference from that other pic you posted around Halloween. You have more overall size, especially in the arms. Keep up the good work!
