Reunions are weird. I missed my 10yr high school reunion, but frankly I don't feel like I'm connected to any of those people any more. It would be interesting to see some people, see how they turned out, but honestly I'd probably run out of conversation material after about ten minutes. Last weekend was different. Some colleagues of mine from the University decided to have a mini-reunion to celebrate the retirement of one of our professors. This was a group with whom I spent a lot of time in class and working on various projects in the Theater dept. Many of these people I haven't seen in nearly ten years. There were also a couple of old flames. One of which I spent a long time talking to. I could feel that old mutual attraction very strongly. I gravitated to her. She, of course, is married now, to an clergy-man, (I actually went to their wedding eight years ago,) but we still flirted a lot. It was fun. The whole thing felt a little whirlwind and surreal. People have actually had lives since college, and it so strange how they're the same people but they've had so many more years of life experience than they did when you last saw them. Most were married, a few had kids. Most of them still worked in theater, some didn't. We shared recent anecdotes, and past memories. Most of the conversations were the usual: what are you doing now, where do you live, what's been going on, etc? It's all weird though because these are people I knew intimately so many years ago, and now they almost seem as foreign as the first time I met them. It's really my fault though because I'm bad at keeping in touch with people. Maybe it's time to break down and join Facebook. Everyone and their dog are on that thing. Sadly because of my schedule, I only got to hang out with them Saturday, Sunday I had to work. We all parted tipsy from both the mania of the reunion and the alcohol that freely flowed all evening. We exchanged contact information and said that we would keep in better touch. I hope that is true.

Wow, that sounds cool. I love reconnecting with people who's company you actually enjoy. I'm going to meet up with my best friend from 5th grade over Thanksgiving who I haven't seen really in freakin' 15 years! Hope everything goes as good as your reunion experience smile
