March 17th - Saint Patrick's Day

Today is, of course, St. Patrick's Day, in remembrance of the day St. Patrick arrived, looked around, and said "Well, ye live on roots from the earth, ye boil yer beef, and God help ye, ye burn dirt for warmth. This place is fooked, let's get seriously shitty."

The tradition continues to this day.

St. Patrick's Day is the one day of the year when people desperately want to be Irish; except for the Irish, who desperately want to beat the people who desperately want to be Irish.

It's also the one day of the year where "shilelagh" and "pot o' gold" become valid euphamisms for your genitals, so show us your lucky charms, lads and lasses.

As for my family, a one fingered man could total up the Irish ancestry in me, and still have knuckles to spare. On the other hand (one with five fingers), my own ancestors drunkenly raped and pillaged their way across the whole of the British Isles, so I'll be celebrating in my usual fashion: rough sex, and petty theft.

So raise your glass, and get drunk off your ass, because who are you to deny the weight of tradition?
