I suppose I should have a lot of news by now, but I really don't.
Work continues. If feels like I'm the one in school what with all the homework and whatnot. I'll need to work on that some tonight. I'm making a final for the Comp. Apps. classes since my boss said we had to have one and it had to be given in the last hour of class. They may not enjoy it, but oh well. <lj user="penguinet"> is finally coming back, which will help me out a lot since I have 6 classes graduating this time. Every 6 weeks having to give finals, get in grades and start new classes, it's...annoying. The reduction in hours will be really nice, though. I have some tests I need to grade tonight, guess I'll do that after I get off of here.
Wednesday my car broke down just as I was pulling into the parking lot at work. I think it was then, maybe it was Monday. Regardless, I had to have them tow it in since I couldn't leave work at all, and even if I could with all the damn traffic there's a good chance I wouldn't have been able to make it to the shop. Anyway, it ended up costing another $600, and I need tires, too. The tired will be another $200 alltogether, since I need 4, and I'll need the alignment and whatnot. The good news is that's it on the foreseeable expenses on the vehicle, and I can start saving up some money.
That reminds me, what do you people want for christmas? Just email it to me at paranatural@gmail.com, and please ask for something. I can finally have money to do this sorta thing and I'd like to. A movie, a CD, whatever.
I figure after christmas, I'm getting a new computer. I really need one because I plan on having more free time and I wanna play games again. Civ 4 and Battlefield 2, notably, and my current machine, well, let's just say it barely runs Civ 4.
I'm baking a ham right now. No, not from HoneyBaked Hams or anything, I'm making the Alton Brown City Ham. It's really damn good, I've made it before. In about half an hour it'll be time to pull it and put on the sweet/crunchy glaze that makes it so incredibly good. I'm making it now because Monday and Wednesday are my busiest days and I won't have time to make it this week. Thursday I think I'mma go to my mother's side of the family for thanksgiving. Friday I think I don't have anything planned, but that weekend I have some moving to help with, need to find out when/where/ect.
Oh, and I'm supposed to be going back to the Ren Faire again soon, need to find out when that'll be. I really do like it there. Guess I need to see when it ends and when everyone wants to go back. People were saying after thanksgiving, but I'm not sure if they ment the thanksgiving weekend or just anytime after. The Houston faire should be done so we should see more acts and whatnot.
So, lots of people have turbulence in their lives right now. I feel helpless, I wish I could do anything to help, but I'm not very good at that.
Let's see, some news items of interest to me:
Rush Limbaugh has developed a 'Adopt-A-Soldier' program. Here's how it works: You send Rush $50 and he emails his 'premium content' to them. Well, isn't that useful. You can send a soldier propaganda, which he more or less already recieves anyway, for just $50. Not, you know, a flak vest or vehicle armor or anything. Emails are just as good, I'd bet. It's good to know that Rush is thinking of the best way to make a buck off the war. I'm sure other war profiteers have been doing this as well, it's just funny that he's doing it. Or sad. Sometimes I get those two confused.
One story that doesn't get enough coverage in the so-called 'lberal' media is that of the $100 Laptop. MIT developed a low-cost little laptop for the world's poorest countries to help them get a foothold in the tech market by giving at least some of their citizens the ability to access the internet. It sounds great so far, and it sounds like something that should be in the news a lot more. It is on the international sites. Sometimes the meglomania of US journalisim really gets on my damn nerves. Anyway, some people may not get why this matters so much, and for that answer you only need to look towards India. Yes, they do get much of their revenue from the U.S., but as time goes by and more and more countries develop the technological infrastucture to at least be able to interact with eachother with it, it'll be important that some countries are not left behind. Of course, this also leads into the flattening of the globe, as technology and potential grows more ubiqitous through the world physical location matters less. I think the US needs to understand this; the world will be with us no matter how much we try to pretend it's not. I fear that growing xenophobia will take hold, however. I feel that within 20 years it will become common practice for many companies to hire everyone from project managers to accountants in many different nations. With the majority of all transactions and documents existing sometimes soley in digital format, there will be an ever-increasing number of jobs that do not require physical proximity to the parent company in order to be viable. Many of the kids receiving these laptops will one day be hired by companies physcially located in the United States. But nobody pays any attention because two kids from PA are missing or something.
Ever wanna be a porn star? Here's your chance! Yes, the Pornicide company wants to help you become a porn star. So shed those clothes and send in your pics, because now getting paid to get laid has never been easier.
Well, I suppose that's enough for now. Night, kids.

My husband just got back from iraq 6 months ago. I think they'd much prefer a letter. Old fashioned..yes, but appreciated more than propaganda.
