People want to blame New Orleans residents for "choosing" to live there (as if being born there is a choice, which many of them were), but the same arguement can't be made in Mississippi or even in Baton Rouge. If you want to talk about personal responsibility, Michael Brown chose to accept the job as the head of FEMA. The Federal Emergency Management Agency. Not the Federal We'll Manage Your Emergency If You Deserve It Agency. Our tax dollars help fund this agency, and it failed everyone. Not just people who didn't leave New Orleans. But everyone. Bush was on television on Tuesday or Wednesday after the hurricane made landfall. He said that they were doing all they could, but the private citizens needed to step up and do their part. We do. We payed these assholes salaries to aid us, and they just sat back and just hoped nothing happened. When something did happen "Brownie" was left with egg on his face and blood on his hands because he was in no way qualified to handle the responsibility that was intrusted to him.
