so the road trip is going well so far i guess. i'm in st. louis right now - one of my least favorite towns in theworld and just thankful that tonight is the last night here. here are some highlights of the trip thus far:
sunday night before leaving i found out that the menstrual tramps were playing a basement show in milwaukee. i haven't seen them for years, so i postponed leaving so i could go say hi to chyna and the band and all that stuff. chyna's hair was blond with 60+ ten-inch liberty spikes all the way around, and she was as hot as ever. she had some impressive new ink, too. what a great girl.
tuesday i drove to des moines and got completely shitfaced at a bar called Hairy Mary's - the one cool place in des moines, i'm told. (on University just east of the drake univ. campus) $1 pints of pabst, so i felt right at home.
wednesday i went back to my old hometown of omaha and drank at josephine's cozy corner (22nd & pacific) with my buddy rappe. it's been 3 years but bartender frank still knew my friggin' name. we went to this girl katherine's pad in the old market and drank sake and watched as she applied ointment to her many rats. one of them had an infected penis and of course, ointment had to be applied. i did not expect to kick it till 5 am, but that's what happened.
thursday night was spent at the brother's (36th & farnam) nothing special about this place. i feel strange coming back to the old haunts because i don't want to be recognized by people i don't nessecarily want to see. luckily there was an alkaline trio show going on, so most of old joey's ex ladyfriends were there instead of sucking them down @ the brothers.
i drove back to st. louis yesterday and just crashed out. we spend tomorrow night here and then it's off to Chattanooga, Tn where we will rendez-vouz with $1 tallboys of PBR at the stone lion, the one greatest bar i've ever been to. if your in the neighborhood stop on in and see me, i'll be the guy with the big-ass sideburns and a can of pabst in my hand and a camel light in the other.
my omaha friends were great. they gifted me with a brand new zippo, the fanciest one available, and now i must try not to lose it on this trip. i've found that zippos are most likely to be lost on their inaugural road trip, so i think i'm in the clear if it survives this one. i had a close call already, but after a 10 min search of the van i found it under the passenger seat.
i will try and update soon, but i have to do my bizness at kinkos where it's like so much per minute (and i gotta check out the new girls & such, too)
