It's so incredibly nice out today. I opened the doors and made a makeshift blockade to keep Malady from escaping.
My landlord died yesterday. He had been in the hospital, first one, then another, for more than a month. He had blood clots in his lungs and legs, but no one knows exactly how he died. He was 62. He was an amazing character who told silly jokes and wandered around in his bathrobe a lot. He had a crazy bushy walrus moustache that hung down below his chin. His name is Norman.
He was one of those crazy local color characters that everyone knew. I live behind the house he grew up in, in a cottage that he helped his father build and later lived in also. There weren't a lot of people like Norman. None that I've met, anyway. The world is certainly different without him.
