Okay, so I just got through watching (most of) the grammys. Outkast won for album of the year. Hey Ya is a great song. But I've heard some other Outkast songs with some pretty debaucherous lyrics, so I'm undecided as to whether I want to hop on the Outkast bandwagon just yet. I have to hear more from them.
I am not a huge fan of his genre of music but I have to admit Justin Timberlake blew me away tonight. The kid definitely does the best white guy who sounds like a black guy act that think I've ever seen. That kid has soul. And he rocked the piano while he was sining too! I was impressed. JT also performed with the Black Eyed Peas doing "Where is the love", a song that I really like. As well as liking the music, I think it's a really positive song. Any rap song that's not about how much bling-bling the guy has or what club he party's at is always a nice breath of fresh air. Too bad they only show up about once every 10 years.
Okay, so I really enjoyed the whole funkadelic medley which they actually gave like a whole 15 minutes to. The electric steel guitar player guy was really good. Anybody catch his name? Celine made some horrible faces while she was singing "dance with my father". Maybe she had to take a dump really bad or something.
Xtina's dress was just completely ridiculous. I'm not saying the slut in me didn't enjoy it, but honestly I don't really know what would make somebody wear a dress that showed that much cleavage. I mean that's not really too sexy if you ask me. Sexy is leaving something to the imagination.
Some other things is that Beyonce really impressed me with her singing voice tonight. I had no idea she could sing so well. She still may be Pepsi's corporate bitch, but at least she can sing. And I'm very happy that Evanescence won for best new artist. They may be completely one dimensional up to this point, but they do a damn good job at it.
So I started reading Bushwacked tonight by Molly Ivins... and now I have come to realize what I suspected was true all along: GeeDubya is a bad man. A slimy little bastard. A big hypocrite. A disgrace to run our country.
Exhibit 1: in 1990 Dubya made a fat $million selling his stock of Harken Energy Corporation right before it tanked. At the time, he was both on Harkens board and a special audit committee looking at the company's financial health. He did not report the sale to the SEC, which consequently fucked all the other shareholders, and was later let off the hook because the people in charge of the SEC were friends with Dubyas Daddy, the President.
Exhibit 2: While with Harken, the company sold one of it's own subsidiaries to a group of insiders for $11 million. The insiders only paid $1 million. The rest was paid by Harken. So to sum things up, Harken sold it's own subsidiary to itself, to make it look like there was only a $3 million deficit as opposed to a $14 million deficit.
Exhibit 3: In 1989 Harken set up another corporation in the Cayman Islands. The Caymans are a convenient offshore address for US companies that want to do business at home but prefer not to pay U.S. taxes. However as President in 2002 Dubya urged corporate tax-dodgers to "pay taxes and be good citizens".
That's all, i'm so fucking tired, goodnight.
