It's 1:15 AM EST. I have five more days before I leave. I feel the nostalgia setting in already, and I'll have to do all I can to prevent it from becoming melancholy. Sometimes, I really wish I wasn't so introspective.
The goodbye tour wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. The dinners with friends and family were low-key, but poignant. I spent an hour talking with my 8-year old nephew about his plans to take over the world and re-make it into a forest paradise. What a great kid.
I had a talk with the girl last night while in bed. She said she is disappointed that we're parting ways just as things are becoming good between us, but she understands that I have to pursue my dreams. She would have lost respect for me if I didn't jump at this chance. I didn't say a word. Damn her for making this so easy.
