Waxed leather armor is lightweight, very durable, very easy to repair, and requires very inexpensive materials to produce. You can make a complete suit for about seventy dollars, including tools. Chain is cheap, too, but maille weaving is exponentially more time intensive and only really protects against a specific kind of damage, that from sharp, slashing weapons.
Plate production requires a minimum investment for tools and workshop space that is totally beyond my means.
I suppose I'll have to think about it, decide what is really important to me.
This has easily been the most momentous day in the history of my people. Today we saw the glorious completion of the Star Wars saga, and it was everything I hoped it would be. Less satisfying though perhaps more potentially exciting, the news from E3 has shown us the dawn of a new era go take a look at the duckies demo, Alfred Molina's... Read More
Sixteen years ago I met the most gentle, tolerant person I have ever known. I grew up with him, and though we weren't brothers through blood (or even of the same species), I grew to love him more dearly than I have ever loved anyone or anything.
Three hours ago he died in my arms.

Life here is good. Been dating a woman in San Francisco and spending a lot more time in the city...
Just in case you weren't feeling immeasurably depressed, I present for your edification my latest poem, tentatively titled It's the Fucking Twenty-Forth of April and It's Fucking Snowing in Fucking Ohio:
The time has come;

no one is coming to save you.
this is all you will perceive.
your door is locked for every ever.
even when your prison falls,... Read More
Since my last entry I've encountered the paradigm-shattering phenomenons of Ghost in the Shell, miso soup, Guild Wars, Schlock Mercenary, and mobile computing (my Thinkpad 560e may suck hard, but Rheingold was totally on to something). Anyone care to share some recent discoveries of their own, or clue me in to other wildly significant stuff I've managed to miss?
I didn't even try. I just considered giving up chocolate, and then laughed at myself for days. If I ever hit one hundred pounds, I'll give up eating however I please.
Just kidding. I'm an former gamer myself.
