My show opened tonight.
One of my friends laughed at a really extremely wholly inappropriate moment. And he knew it was inappropriate. And he knew that if he laughed, everyone would laugh, because they were all looking for an excuse not to cry. I would have walked out of my own play if the door had been nearby. Instead I sat clawing my palms, as my eyes watered, and left through a back exit after the show so I wouldn't have to speak to him.
