If you could take all of the joy out of a single day and surgically implant it anywhere but here, you could still could not compare to my day.
My thesis advisor asked me why I quoted Fuare's requiem at a certain point in my thesis. I began to answer, and he started screaming at me, literally screaming, and his face got brighter and brighter shades of red and he slapped his leg harder and harder as he yelled.
When he finally stopped I sat stunned for a second, and finally asked if he wanted me to answer, and he said yes, and I explained that that was the point in the text when Jesus' thought process began to move him toward the crucifixion. My advisor goes, "oh, that makes sense." And we continued with the meeting, as if nothing had happened, except that my face was leaking water through my eyes.
Three people who were supposed to audition today did not show up. The one person who did show was about 50 years old, and really made my actress uncomfortable. Having a 50-year-old play opposite an 18-year old in a story focusing on rape is just a little too realistic for comfort. So we have to turn down a perfectly good actor, when we have no one else to play the part.
To top it all off, I got home to find an email from Missy rejecting my set. I didn't expect this one to get accepted, so I wasn't all that surprised, but still. It was a perfect conclusion to a perfect day.
(So be nice to me, or I'll cry some more.)
