I just posted this in the politics section... as I look into the future (which happens to be my profession) I'm not seeing much light... not hereabouts anyway... there is light - Canada, the Pope, some Scandinavian countries, Holland's use of microfarming, Iceland's environmentalism, and so forth - really there is a lot of good and even just ordinary places and people, and my following...

I'm not generally a big 'conspiracy' guy but I do believe that the retardation of education has been intentional.  usamericans are not in general aware of the fact that government health care is globally a centrist position, and that employer-based insurance is kind of a laughably bad idea.  true enough, the biggest question is: what to do?  I used to think I'd help tech our way out, but now it seems smartening up popular culture is the most immediate concern.

Yesterday I had the occasion to share this with a young friend. For those of you who remember Michael Jackson's "Thriller" you may recognize these moves. Bob Fosse did this in 1974; Thriller etc. happened in 1982...

ferkixlll:
Did he get credit in the Thriller credits?
oldernow:
@ferkixlll I wouldn't know, never been able to watch it for that long...

@panther289 testify - even hearing a very young Jorma Kaukonen & Jack Casady absolutely *kill* Hesitation Blues does not show that music has improved these many decades... but then before the blues there was.... military band music and banjos ...

I see that's the (a?) topic ... calls to mind the worse thing i never bought... many years ago my wife had just entered grad school and we were on break down in New York City. As we walked past a gallery window there was a little crappy painting in the window, and this voice in my head started shouting "buy it! buy it!!" Now...

Bummer. Like when I was a kid: one could have bought most towns around here for a case of rum. When you had to scape to get a 6 pack of cheap beer.

Shall man, whose soul is set in the royalty of discernment and resolve, deny his rank and say, I am an onlooker, ask no choice or purpose of me? That is the blasphemy of this time. The divine principle of our race is action, choice, resolved memory. Let us contradict the blasphemy, and help to will our own better future and the better future of...
