Worked a cyber-security conference with a female colleague in So Cal who I don’t know that well (in beautiful Riverside, CA, which is a whole other story.) I took a call, and while I was walking back, saw her talking amiably with an older gentleman. I didn’t think much of it and wandered around talking to other booth-folk and then I saw it...

@littlejohn22 Damn straight, just gotta throw some gas into the Mystery Machine. @lo_ Oh wow, am I gonna say this out loud? ... 19 years. She's my first and only. Crazy, huh?
lo_:
That's amazing! I love it.

One thing about Dad – he’s one of the gentlest, nicest people you will ever meet. That’s why, it’s hilariously shocking to see his analysis of a game I sent him (in which I thought I was soooo clever.) He opens with ‘The Philidor Defense, by the French composer of the 18th century and the best chess player of the time.’ But starts...

If white is moving south, then I can see it.
griffxx:
@wizard0 White is, indeed, moving south. :) Bonus: Spain may not have been the one to discover America if King Ferdinand didn't see the solution : https://www.chess.com/blog/batgirl/the-discovery-of-america

Just to be clear - not a *member* of Wu Tang .. it's a track with Method Man, Redman, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon & Masta Killah.

Repeat: Wu Tang Clan's new track.

Swingin' through your town like your neighbourhood Spider-Man.

A friend of a friend had never been wine tasting, so I got roped into doing that last weekend. It’s hard to complain about it when you’re basically drinking great free wine all day. In line, I apologized for holding up the line chatting with the wine-pourer who was a retired geology professor (which was fascinating.) A girl said she understood because she...

Always interesting blogs.  Yeah, I'm with you on letting drug companies waste money advertising to people who can't actually buy their products without a prescription.  Makes no rational sense.

Credid... what is happening to our school systems these days

Wife has always wanted a garden, so I hooked her up with this pre-fab frame and a bunch of soil. Some friends donated some baby plants from their garden and it’s coming along nicely.

I kinda want to steal that big ol strawberry and blame it on the squirrel.

Father-in-law’s visit is over but the weirdness is still resonating. It’s one of

I love that planter box, and would you recommend eye surgery?
griffxx:
@chef The teddy bear was a total surprise. If I known that was a thing, I would have brought in like five stuffed monkeys. @littlejohn22 If your glasses or contacts are really annoying you, then yeah I would. The healing process is going to take weeks to fully finish but already it feels magical to not have to worry about my vision 'falling off my head' or 'out my eyeball'

If I have to take a call near Embarcadero, I usually hang by this old Hills Bros statue and think about coffee.

Got my frame-able certificate in the mail, debating on whether to actually put it on the wall since it feels weird to do something like that. I’ll do a quick summary of all the noteworthy things that have happened lately.

I’m

Omg, we just unsubscribed from a package that has GOT on it... we are missing the last 4 episodes... no spoilers...
wizard0:
It angers me so much that the show is ahead of the books.  I picked the series up with the first book, and it seems I've been waiting ever since.

I got dinner solo and popped into the nearby Sacramento Irish Pub. It was trivia night and, as usual, I glommed on to the end of the bar with a geeky girl that I connected with immediately. As it turns out, she was stood up for a date (BOO! Whoever did that BOOOO!) and I helped her with some answers. We talked about school, jobs...

you have great adventures even when you are drunk... sounds like beginning of a rom-com movie

Excellent!

Coming up to Sacramento today, as I was merging from Highway 80 East to Highway 5 North when my engine stopped. It took me a bit to figure what was going on, just everything was weird. The handbrake light was on, but wasn't pulled, the steering wheel felt weird, the brakes felt weird - and then I noticed the RPM was at 0. I tried...

Always an adventure!

That's all it said. No score or anything.

I'd write more, but I'm on one right now.

Boom! Congrats.

Last night I had a dream I started my upcoming exam on my phone accidentally (this is impossible because it's computer based, no phones/notes/wallet and a camera pointed at you the whole time.) The question was 'To begin, an easy one : if using the Offman Exchange, without any known variables, is the answer more likely to be 1 or 2?"

I cannot...

the answer is more likely to be 1.  If you add variables, the answer could be from 2-10.  Give or take the color of the moon.
