I was seventeen and I was completely retarded. I was in a hard home situation that I needed to get away from. So I chose a cost-effective, swift escape. The Army. My recruiter told me lots of frilly things about college money and healthcare. Nearly all of it fell on deaf ears. All of it except, "You can be out of here as soon as July completely on the Army." Fuck yes.

And I was gone. Yeah, I'm in Iraq. Yeah it sucks sometimes. But I'd sign that contract ten times if I had to. I didn't care about the war. I was completely oblivious to all politics save the ones in my home. I was already in a war. Swap one for another? No problem, chief. Done.

You naysayers think I subscribe to Bush's beliefs? Fuck Bush in the ass. That fucker doesn't care about me. Fuck him and his beliefs. I didn't join the Army to help him out. I joined to help me out.

Those brave soldiers who went AWOL? Those brave soldiers who fought back? Those brave soldiers who refused to go? Awesome. Yay for them. They stood up for what they believed in and I applaud them for that. They didn't have a problem with taking a chance on ruining their lives or going to jail. Fuck yeah. You get a rock fist.

Not everybody has so little to lose or so little care about losing it. Not everybody can afford to go to jail. Some soldiers have mouths to feed. Some soldiers have debt to pay off. Some soldiers want to look to the future and believe that if they bide their time they can achieve their dreams. That's kinda hard to do after you've spent x amount of years in Fort Leavenworth Penitentiary with a dishonorable discharge under your belt.

Fuck the Army. Fuck the war. Fuck Bush. But fuck me? Hell no. Bush is not going to do shit different if I decided to ruin in my life. So I pranced over to the kitty litter like a good little soldier. I'm doing my time. I'm getting out. I'm moving on.
