Vincent: You know what they put on French fries in Holland instead of ketchup?
Jules: What?
Vincent: Mayonnaise.
Jules: Goddamn.
Vincent: I've seen 'em do it, man. They fuckin' drown 'em in that shit.
It's true.
This is my last night here in Amsterdam. I've been here since Friday.
I am currently sitting at a 'offeeshop' writing this entry.
Friday
I flew in with my sister and spent the day walking around the city. Had a look around the city, taking photos and noticing the huge amount of bicyles. This city is filled with mainly bike riders which is great to see they are keeping pollution. Good for health too not many fat people in the city either.
Saturday.
We spent the day walking around to various museums. We went to the Jewish museum which was interesting and touched on the subjects of jewish life in holland.
We then proceeded to a near by flea market where everyone was selling their goods (seconds and others). A bit dull we left, had some lunch and went to this old clock tower connected to a church (i forget the name).
As the day grew one we went to Anne Frank's house. We weren't allowed to take photos so I can't show you but it was a very emotional experience. The endurance for that family was a hard thing to follow. A powerful experience.
Sunday.
Today we went out seperate ways. I went to the heineken brewery to do the tour but it was closed. So I made my way back to central amsterdam and went to the Red Light District. Here I went to the Hemp Museum which traces the history of Hemp and how important it was as a material and plant to various aspects of life. The Dutch were very much into the Hemp game even hundreds of years ago. I then went to Cannabis College where they have refrence material and some paraphernalia. And then I saw the most amazing thing.
Downstairs they had fully grown marijauan plants!
You could go right upto them and smell them (but couldn't touch) so I took some photos.
I then went down to the Red Light District where the famous women in the window were on display. Men going in and out, doors opening and closing. Sex shops a plenty, but since I went during the day it was a bit quiet. A site to see no less.
I will come back to this city.
one day.

I'm very jealous of your travels. Amsterdam especially. I've done England, Scotland, France, Israel, Egypt, Mexico, and a 12 hour layover in Zurich, but Amsterdam has eluded me. Next time I visit Europe, it's first priority!
