Apperently this is night of a ka-zillion posts.
So, my musings about Frank MIller and ideal heros aside. What did I do today?
It was busy, I was at the office really late again last night. We caught another user seriously goofing off again, and long story short I had to stay late to write up my report. I decide to leave the office, go home, eat, maybe take a nap then come back. That's nice in theory, the nap ended up lasting until midnight. There was just to much on the line for me to let it ride for a day, so I went back in.
In a letter to my department, I declared (which may annoy my boss, who knows?) that I wouldn't be in until 12 noon today. I'm trying to alot myself a minimum buffer of time between when I leave the office to go home for the night and when I come back in for the morning. 3am -> 12pm? That's not so bad. Who am I kidding, that fucking sucks, but I did it anyway.
Today was somewhat hectic. The phone was ringing off the hook, and I still need to work it out such that I don't have to answer the damn thing any more. I spent most of my day tweaking our web filtering software (the rules hierarchy blows donkey nuts, it doesn't work like firewall rules do, which it advertised that it'd do). I also worked a lot on deploying my updated enterprise IDS, one of the websites that houses a critical peice of open source software is down however, which as put the kibosh on me moving forward. I've tried to find alternate download sites, but they give me the wrong damned modules, and I ain't no perl hacker so I'm sorta stuck.
Tomorrow, I hope, I can just work on my own projects. My boss is letting me create and execute my own projects, by myself, which is really freakin' nice. It means that I get to do shit I enjoy, I get paid for it, and it helps my company.
I also have to shop for Goth Prom tomorrow! I need to get a burgandy tie and handkerchief. Plus I should put a coursage on order, consider this whole thing kicks off on Thursday. I can't wait. A friend of mine who's been doing study abroad in Bath England is going to be my "date." My only quandry remains - do I wear dress shoes or chucks. I think chucks (black, lowtop), better for doing the industrial stompy dance. I still have yet to find a pair of boots that won't tare the living fuck out of my knee (I shattered it a while ago you know), otherwise they'd be the easy choice. So, I slam dance in chucks. Sue me.
