Ooof, hard but productive day at work, so I celebrated with a long gander around the site. I decided to update the journal, and not be a llama.
The name "Of Mere Being" is taken from a Wallace Stevens poem of the same name. Wallace is my favorite poet, and "Of Mere Being" is perhaps his least understood poem. Many have tried to dechipher it, but I feel they have mostly fallen short. I can boast no deeper insight than anyone, it's simply a poem I enjoy a great deal.
I'm from the DC area, I go to school in Fredericksburg at the prestigeous (#insert sarcasm.h) Mary Washington College where I'm getting my degree in Psychology.
During the summer I tend to be a slave to my job, working network security is always hectic and often times requires really odd hours. I try to get out as often as I can to the industrial club scene in DC, which basically means Alchemy (http://www.alchemy-dc.com). I'm also somewhat active in the BDSM scene here in DC.
For those of you who've picked up on the interesting dichotomy (sp?). Yes I am a computer geek by trade, a social science geek by learnin', and a stuffy english professor at heart. I try to keep things fresh, yo'.
I've got two tattoos on either side of my spine on my lower back, they are a grey scale tribal design. Come next pay check I'm planning to start my most ambitious tattooing project, of getting a phoenix (see same poem mentioned above) done which will come from my shoulders down to my thigh. It'll happen in stages of course, and probably take most of the summer if not longer. The style may have tribal lines to it, but it won't be a standard off the rack, everyone at the gym has one, tribal peice.
There's not a whole lot I can really communicate about myself via a single post aside from the basics. I've kept an LJ for many years which serves that purpose.
Once the latest tattoo is done I'll use that as my picture.
And on the off chance that anyone is reading this, I guess I should explain why I don't have comments enabled. Flatly, I don't give a fuck what anyone else has to say about what I post here. Should there be a burning desire to communicate, send me e-mail.
