So here's a serious question about a subject that's maybe not so serious. It's just something that I've been wondering about.
If you're a regular reader of my journals here on this website for the last almost 5 years, you'll notice that I have a knack for getting free booze in bars, even bars that I've never been in before.
I'm going to add one more story to that collection, but my question is, in all seriousness, what is it about me that this keeps happening? Why do bartenders love giving me free drinks?
So last Wednesday, one week ago, I went over to the Red Lion with a friend, and we sat down in the shade of the back patio to enjoy the day with some sausage and beer. After we'd been there a while, one of the waitresses walked over to our table, said a couple things, then just sat down and joined us. We didn't invite her to, she just did. Then she just kept ordering more beer for us, and we didn't pay for any of it. Well, we paid for the stuff we drank before she sat down, but not after.
Anyways, we bailed around 9pm to head to a little club in Hollywood, for a gig. A friend was promoting the show, some friends of friends were playing, other friends were hanging out. We walk into the place, sit at the bar, order a beer apiece. We paid for those, then never paid for another drink. We just sat at the bar talking to the bartender the whole night, and she just kept dishing up free beer all night long. She swore that she knew me from somewhere. I don't know ... she seemed very vaguely familiar to me, but we couldn't figure it out. Anyways, she told me to come by the other bar where she works on Mondays, so I popped in there on Monday, sat at the bar, said hello, and drank for free all night again.
I'm not complaining ... you know, that would just be silly.
I'm just curious --- what is this strange power that I have that compels bartenders to give me free drinks?
