I got all that shit done yesterday except the laundry bit, so that's on for today
Also my best friend is in town from Chicago .... well, sort of. He's up in Ventura, but it's close enough that I'll make the run up to hang out later.
Gig was hot.
Well....
The first band (Fair Verona, from Co. Tipperary in Ireland) was hot, and the last band (Ze Auto Parts) was hot, but the 2 in between were pretty shit.
So at least it started and ended well.
It's cool drinking with people who you last saw on another continent ("Oh my God, last time I saw you I pulled your shirt off and scribbled on your nipples!" .... Z.A.P. shares their bassist with Slunt)
Updated to add:
It was an eerily London-full day yesterday, not completely intentionally.
I had some amusing bar conversations, first with a British-born Indian guy that runs a pub/curry house in Bakersfield, about an hour or so north of here, in a Brit ex-pat pub around the corner from my flat. It wasn't really *about* anything, aside from talking about pubs and curries in England vs. the States, but it was somehow really amusing to me.
The second one was in another pub in the neighborhood, where I popped in for a pint of Fuller's ESB to remind me of the Ship, and ended up listening to a New Zealander rant and rave about the virtues of cricket over baseball. I don't think he stopped even after I got up to leave and head to the Ze Auto Parts gig at the Cat Club on Sunset
Where I found, A) A British bartender, B) a band from Ireland, and C) someone who I last saw at the Crobar in Soho
On top of that, throughout the day yesterday, I got 2 calls from a girl in London, a couple text messages from a London friend that's currently in Texas but will be in L.A. in a month, and a text message from a former co-worker at the Ship
