Ahoy, mateys! Finally got around to making my first blog. Took me forever, but better late than never, ya? I'm not the most creative lass when it comes to telling stories or finding stuff to talk about, because honestly, I'm a really boring person. My life is a never ending cycle of work, Netflix/YouTube, sleep and repeat, with the usual Instagram "selfie" sprinkled in there from time to time and a glass of rum 'n coke on the nightstand. The people I work with will tell you I'm really neat, but trust me, it's all in the tattoos and strange lipstick choices. I'm about as interesting as a barnacle stuck to the bottom of a ship. But hey, why not share what little there is to know about me, eh!
1. I live in central Arkansas and I hate it. I've been here for probably 15+ years now and have really grown tired of the place. It's not a bad place to visit and the northern part of the state is absolutely beautiful, but there's nothing holding my interest here. No career opportunities, we rarely get good bands roll through on tour, the alternative community is too few and far between, and not to mention a bookworm with a $50 Barnes and Noble gift card is more likely to finish browsing in one hour than it is for the weather to keep to one season for a whole month. Minus during the summertime... It's blistering humid and hot during the summer. Oh and we don't get pretty colors during the fall. Everything just kind of turns brown and dies almost overnight...
2. In relation to #1, NO, I don't know where I want to move to yet. I'm a super indecisive person and choosing where I'm probably going to spend the next 5-10 years of my life isn't an easy decision to make. I've narrowed it down to various cities (Pittsburgh, Boston, Seattle, Portland, Austin, various places in California) but I really have no idea where I'm going, so please don't ask. I'm more tired of hearing that question than people wondering if my hand tattoos hurt.
3. Speaking of tattoos, I have 16 (I think?). My sleeve I'm about to just count as one since it has so many little pieces and I intend to be mostly covered from the neck down. I think tattoos are one of the most beautiful forms of self-expression. I never felt more like myself until I started getting more work done on my body. They've really helped me overcome a lot of obstacles with my self-esteem and have given me the ability to look in a mirror and not hate everything I see. It's the one way I can carry with me all the things I love, even if I end up losing everything.
4. I am the mother to 3 dogs and 2 cats, never any children without fur. Every time I see a video of a kitten or a puppy, I want to go to the shelter for another one. I actually hope to adopt a fox kit sometime in the next couple of years, depending on city restrictions and such of where I eventually end up. Who wouldn't want a pet fox???
5. I'm really boring, I just write a lot once I get going. It's a serious problem, if you can't tell.
6. Rum is my liquor of choice and Sailor Jerry is my go-to. A pirate's life fer me harhar!!
7. You know that meme that's floating around that says, "I'm addicted to buying makeup and I'm not rich enough to have this problem"? That's me. I have an ever growing collection of lipsticks that I probably won't get to wear out if I ever change jobs and I can't stop buying more colors. My favorite shades are blues, greens and purples. See why I said I probably won't be able to wear them out? Thankfully, my boss is pretty cool and lets me do most of what I want. Just no colored contacts and my hair has to stay natural. Silver/grey counts, coming soon...
8. I'm an assistant manager for a clothing retail store. Not gonna name which one, but I can say it's somewhere you'd never expect to see someone like me working at. It's my safety net from creepers, if you will.
9. Video games!!! I love video games! Granted, I don't have the time to play them as often as I did in high school, but I try to put my free time into my Xbox as often as I can (my rare free time). I'm also ages behind on new releases, so no, I still haven't played Fallout 4 and don't you fucking ruin anything for me. To give you an idea, I just beat Assassin's Creed IV today. No joke, and only because I had some vacation days to take from my job. It kills me that I can't invest more time into them...
10. Horror is my genre. Horror movies, horror games, horror tattoos, you name it. Give me a good ghost story or creepypasta to read and I am happy. I love anything morbid and macabre, the creepier the better. My collection of dead bugs, bones and such is small now (to me) but eventually my space will be filled with them. I'm all about giving my guests some nightmare fuel.
There ya have it! A lot to read, way more than I intended... But hey, if you like it let me know and if I simply jabber too much, I'll try to clean it up next time. Key word is "try". No guarantees. Needless to say I aced reaching the minimum word capacity in AP English essays back in high school. Arr!
