Enough of True Tales of null and His Evo.

I hope you'll forgive my exuberance about the car. I researched it for a long, long time, agonized over whether I wanted to spend the money, and finally bought it. I've already been subjected to the abhorrent "penis extension" line of thought repeatedly, and it begins to grate. Anyone that knows me can tell you...

I honestly think you scared a couple of drops of pee out of me the other night. But it was a good time.

It's worse when they're all your best friend and her boyfriend will listen to. I can tolerate them, really, but I have a limit, and today I was pushed nearly past it.

Imagine, Seattlites, that you're driving up 3rd Avenue toward Belltown. It's about eleven at night on a Friday, and you've got two friends in the car. You've just passed Zanadu Comics, and there's some guy in a convertible 911 Carrera obviously cruising with his date. You swing around him and start to pull past. He's not having any of this, so you see him surge...

The whole thing just smacks of mental instability to me, you know?

I'm inclined to agree, but some of these people are older than either of us.

I just discovered a new, exciting use for the sunroof: making absolutely sure that people know they've been flipped off.

I'm trying to think of good driving songs. The ones like "Black Betty" (both the original and the Spierbait cover) are simple, but do you have any odd ones you'd like to throw out?

Among my choices so far are:
"Black Betty," Spiderbait
"New Noise," Refused
"District," Sick of It All
"As Heaven Is Wide," Garbage
"Black Sunshine," White Zombie
"Sweet Home Alabama," Lynyrd Skynyrd...

I like to listen to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs when I drive, no specific song though. smile

So what kind of writing do you do?

The software industry in Seattle actually turns out to be a very small pond, and if you stick around long enough, you end up knowing everyone or having a common acquaintance with everyone. I've been here for over five years now, so I know a lot of people. Not friends, mind, I'm not much good with people, but a lot of acquaintances.

Today, I wandered...

It did make the name of today's new SG comical to see when I logged on this morning.

null and the Hot New Car

No more than I had driven my new Tarmac Black EVO VIII off the lot, than a boy-racer in a last-generation Camaro replete with Erector-Set-style rear wing started trying to challenge me. I smiled and let him go after showing him that my mid-range response was nothing he could touch.

Fast forward a few minutes, and I'm pulling into...

archernu:
Excellent choice. My good friend Doug has an EVO VII and, in conjunction with a few relatively minor modifications, nothing can touch him. You bought what many consider to be hands-down the fastest non-supercar available in the world. Congratulations, 0.

The very two things that make you the equal of most people are the two things that I need to work on. Spending five years living in Boston sans a car has left me very dull. I plan to put money towards a driving course before I add (much) horsepower. Considering that I cannot currently run my SVTF to it's stock limits, I wouldn't be able to utilize any extra ponies except, say, from a rolling start on the highway, which doesn't exactly take much skill.

Perhaps you could show me a thing or two after I get out there.

I got hit on by a personal trainer at the gym. It was a woman, but it was still strange to me, so I left early.

Later, I went home sick and passed out for several hours.

It was a strange day.
miguelitooooo:
yeah that sounds AWFUL

I had forgotten what it was like to enjoy sweating. I hope I can make this a habit; I really missed sore muscles.

i'm a sweaty bitch so thi s is ridiculous

I really really really wanted to just leave early today, but it would have made everything too complicated. All that bullshit about making up hours in the same work week, and I haven't been around long enough for vacation time. It sucks.

It's apparently been Revenge of the Butt Rock NIght at Chez null. I started out listening to BOC's "Godzilla" and have since gone through several other albums to end up at "Leper Messiah". Weird day.

Other than that, everything proceeds apace. Hope all is well with the rest of you.
venice:
Good. Dealing with simple people makes me happy.
supremepizzaman:
I just saw this show called Top Gear on the Discover Channel, and they had the Lancer Evo VIII on there.

Wow...

They raced it against a Lamborghini Murcielago, a car with 3 times the horsepower, 3 more cylinders, and 3 times the cubic capacity, and it was basically kicking it's ass. It was seriously impressive.

There's a trailer for V for Vendetta up on Apple.com, and perhaps it's the fanboy in me, but it doesn't look despicable. Plus, the release date is listed at the day before Guy Fawkes day, which I think is sublime.

Well, it was more of an I'd like to know but I'm not going to ask directly because it might not be something you want to tell.

After a blissful three-and-a-half day weekend, I must return to work. I know what they managed to screw up in my absences; now I just need to figure out how to fix it.

In other news, I watched three movies in the theater, read the current issue of mental floss cover-to-cver, watched my favorite Firefly episodes, and listened to a lot of classic soul this...

Thinking has only ever either caused me trouble, or caused me to miss out on things I would have enjoyed. It's overrated.

When I decided to leave school in the fall, as soon as someone mentioned it as an option, I realized I had just been waiting for someone to do that, and when I was discussing the possibility with my friends and family I realized that all I was really doing was making sure they wouldn't all be disappointed in me for doing something I had already decided I wanted to do. So I just did it anyway, and they were all very supportive. it was a good lesson.
