An "Elton John" Monday

Monday 4

The highlight of last week was getting to spend the entire week (and then some) in my second home; Las Vegas! About a year ago I started inquiring into working and staying in Vegas a bit more. I had previously overlooked how many modeling opportunities and wonderful photographers are residents of Vegas!

This last trip was really special to me because I got to see one of the greatest musical legends of all time, Elton John. I grew up listening to Elton, Tom, Bob, and Mick. I had a sneaking suspicion that hearing Elton sing live was going to be amazing. About two years ago I had the honor of seeing The Rolling Stones here in Los Angeles. I must admit that one of the highlights of my life was hearing “Start me up” live. That song has always been a go to for me to shake off the blues… and hearing Mick sing it live was nothing short of incredible.

Hearing Elton sing in person was even better. The man was blessed with a voice that couldn’t be improved in any way. I dare to say that his singing live was better than any recording I have ever heard.

For all of you “Tiny Dancer” fans out there: Chills. That is the only word needed to describe hearing that song live. I do not think it will be possible for me to ever forget just how beautiful that song was sung in person. I also really enjoyed hearing “Circle of Life”, I mean who doesn’t love that song! There were so many beautiful songs sung even one from the very start of his incredible career:

“Your Song”

And you can tell everybody this is your song

It may be quite simple but now that it’s done

I hope you don’t mind

I hope you don’t mind that I put down in words

How wonderful life is while you’re in the world.

Getting to hear those lyrics in person was so wonderful. We all need to have the strength to say things like this more often to our loved ones.

Another part of the concert that really touched my heart was Elton’s mentions of John Lennon. They were friends for two years before John passed away. You could tell that even after all this time Elton really missed him. I have also had a few friends who have been passed for some time now and it really is a testimony to the existence of true love when you miss someone after they have been gone for 10, 20, 30 years. I think some people are so special and make such an impact that it is impossible to forget them, even beyond the limited number of years that we may live.

Overall the concert was beautiful, uplifting, and a reminder to live life with as much love in your heart as possible.

Till Next week.

K.

franie:
I saw him about four or five years ago with Leon Russell and I was very impressed. Going into the show I knew very little of his music, but I realized I knee a lot more of the songs than I had previously thought. I figured he would give a sort if tired performance, but he had a lot of energy and gave a lot to the audience. Heck, I even have my Elton John t-shirt from the show! Benny And The Jets was my favorite.
