10 pound up 330 down.

I have been working on recreating my web comic doodle diary of late. The whole process got me thinking about how much time and money we all spend on "entertainment". I realised that all entertainment is simply a crude emotion simulator. Every morning on my journey to work I drive fast and listen to what I class as cool music to reinforce how I feel about myself (I drive a cool car fast, while listening to cool music therefore I also must be cool... right?). During my launch break I read the Invisibles by Grant Morrison and listen to lectures on philosophy to make myself feel smart after whatever soul destroying meeting I have spent the morning in. I come home, drink beer and watch offensive comedies with my friends so we can all feel validated, out of control, and above all free. I wonder if all of these inane rituals that I and therefore everyone else (becomes I am normal... right?) do we do not because we want to feel a certain way but that you need to feel a certain way in order to do whatever activity with a certain degree of success. For example dancing around your room like a pillock to music, gearing up for that encounter you are hoping to have with that person whose eye keep repeating and smile makes you feel like you're falling through the floor. Could simply be you making yourself feel cool and special, not that I'm trying to tell you, you're not. So that when you meet this person you can feel like "hey your cool, I am also cool wanna reproduce?

Anyway I will leave that particular train of thought for the smarter men and women of earth to consider, or not depending on how naive they believe such a theory to be. I sold my first painting on E-bay today Woooo! Hence the ten pound up part of the title. The 330 pound down bit refers to the two gear linkage cables I had to order from Japan to get my car back on the road. I love her so much why does she so hurt me so? Alas material goods make a cruel and indifferent mistress. Maybe its time to seek a sentient mistress or at least an organic one! I will be selling more paintings on E-bay soon and will post details when I do. That way the people who don't know about this blog or care wont know or care about my paintings as well!
