I'm glad to be starting over with a New Year......not that 2006 had any problems, but still I like that whole starting over, clean slate feeling you get on January 1st. Like nothing behind you matters anymore.
Toughest thing right now is Jeannie and I trying to balance both of our working lives with our fairly new family life. Ruby is 16 mos. now so more independant (LOL) and getting to be a lot more fun. But this is a very busy time for me at work and requires working late, going in on weekends, etc. Probelm is, my wife is in the same boat with her job. So we're constantly jockeying for position as to who "gets to" go to work late versus staying home and being a parent. It's a weird thing.
Both of us would obviously prefer to be at home with Ruby and with eachother but it seems as though the timing has both of our careers making huge demands on us at the same time. Can you believe we're actually arguing over who gets to go to work? Like it's some kind of fucking reward. But whaddaya gonna do? Shit needs to get done. And we keep telling ourselves it's only for a short time....couple months to get us through the busy period. Of course, where's Ruby in this? She's only a baby once.
Listen to how cool this is, though....we registered Ruby for music classes! That's right...for a baby! It starts Jan 27th and I can't wait. They give them percussive stuff....shakers, xylaphones, little drums, etc. Start 'em off early!
