Writing and Creator Platforms

I need to sit down and work out a plan of operation for my writing shit. I’m publishing my short stories on Apple Books, offering free pdf downloads on my github, publish flash fiction on Medium, set up sponsor links, and now I have a Patreon. Which is all well and good, but holy balls it’s a lot to keep track of. I suppose this is where a content calendar will be useful.

I have a short story in the works while I continue the revisions of my novel. And now, with the Patreon, I suppose I have a blog to write up all my updates. Is that what I really want to do, though? I’ve been toying with the idea of launching a site to host my blog, but I don’t know if I want to go through all that trouble when these platforms conveniently provide all these tools for me for free.

Then again, there’s nothing quite like owning your own shit, as opposed to being at the mercy of all these other platforms.

Oh fuck, and email; I forgot about that one. Gotta get an email list going. Decades of the internet, and email is still king.

I spent this evening setting up my Patreon and drafting my first post, hence why my brain’s on the topic rn. And with their system set up the way it is, I have to wait for my pages to be approved before they’ll be published. It’s that kind of oversight that makes me wonder if I’m not just better developing a solution of my own. My only concern with doing so is the high level of effort it will take to build and launch the damn thing.

Anyway, here’s a poster of the beautiful @frutella from her set Tasty Breakfast:

@sorcerer333 yup, sounds similar. Have you thought about using music software? Native Instruments has a free version of their Kontakt 7 player, which serves as a host for virtual instruments. They have a whole community of people who create free instruments and plugins. You can run it all through Audacity, which is a free audio recording program. Et voila! You’ll have everything you need to get some accompaniment for your song. You can actually use your computer keyboard to control the virtual instrument. Not ideal, but it’s something!

That is something worth considering! I’ll have to check that out later today, hopefully after I’ve had some sleep. 😅 Thanks for the info!
