Arcane is easily one of my favorite shows ever. I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I first tuned in, but I certainly did expect that I would love it as much as I did.

As much as I do.

I watched it, then invited a close friend to watch it. I then watched it again while she watched it, and...

Normally I’d be writing late in the evening, but this weekend has my timing all fucked up. With the holiday coming up, this whole week has been thrown off with changing schedules and holiday shopping. For the past couple of months, my partner and I have enjoyed a pretty steady workout schedule: heavy squats on Tuesdays, heavy deadlifts on Fridays, functional movement training on Wednesdays,...

I joined The Daily Logo design challenge today. 50 prompts in 50 days. I’m setting a goal of spending no more than 30 minutes each day to complete the prompt for the day. This includes sketching and design. One new logo every day, published to my art & design Twitter account regardless if it’s complete or not.

I can commit to developing my design skills...

You did a great job! I'm glad you're improving. Challenges really help to eliminate some fear before starting work, because you have already agreed and you have a deadline! However, the main result of this test is your ability to concentrate and your ability to come up with ideas in a short period of time. I believe you will succeed! ❤️

Thank you, @headshot! And thank you for the vote of confidence 🤗 The time constraints are major—when I produced yesterday’s logo, I didn’t have time to dally over the details and I appreciated that aspect; once I had the design completed, I used the time I had left to refine it, and I think it came pretty great for being off-the-cuff. I’m excited to see what my logos look like toward the end of the challenge.

One interesting fact about having varied interests is it becomes easy to get locked into the idea that I have to do everything myself, and so if I don’t know how to do a thing, I learn to do the thing so the thing gets done. When I started my fitness company, I didn’t know the first thing about design, so I acquired a series...

Human Instrumentality. The dissolution of the ego and a return to Oneness. The final evolution of humanity, a transcendence of corporeality, the disappearance of the individual, the state, and the universe. The end of separation and the realization of I Am.

How interesting.

Have finished watching Neon Genesis Evangelion and the End of Evangelion for the millionth time, I’m left feeling rather introspective. Evangelion didn’t...

You know what the problem with whiskey is?

Actually, I don’t have a problem with whiskey. I don’t have a problem with tequila either. Nor craft brews, red wine, rum, gin, hard kombucha, or sangria.

I do, however, have a problem with vodka, seltzers, and most mass produced domestic beers in the US. This is, of course, not to suggest there is anything wrong with...

Last night was a rowdy romp through Christmas Town in the North Pole by way of a dnd Christmas one-shot. The party was scheduled to work in Santa’s workshop on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day—allegedly the worst two days of the year to work there. “Allegedly,” because for the character that I created and played, it was going to be just another shift to be...

A friend is running a Christmas-themed dnd one-shot campaign and they’ve instructed the players to create elven characters. Any kind of elf, but it must be an elf. I have a particular concept for this character that’s being honed as I learn more about the various features available in constructing a character. After reading the race features in the character builder on dndbeyond, I settled...

@jtelson thank you for the reference! I was able to grab the subrace from the Eberron book. I’m still learning my around the content. For the time being, I’ve been grabbing things I want á la cart.

I’m introducing Neon Genesis Evangelion to my lady who’s watching it for the first time ever. Evangelion was the gateway drug; I was hooked on anime after watching it through the first time some decades ago. When Netflix announced they were bringing Evangelion to their streaming service, I was ecstatic! I wanted nothing more than to binge the show on repeat for a week. However,...

🚨 Warning: Spoilers Ahead 🚨

I’ve been playing Fallout 4 for a little over a year now. When I first downloaded it from Game Pass, I was annoyed at the settlements mechanic. I was also coming off the heels of playing Control, which is substantially faster paced. My initial reaction was to just delete the game. I didn’t want to deal with any of that....

ohh, I remember when Fallout 4 was released, I took a week off work to play :D it turned out that I enjoyed the game for month :D I kinda had a fun building some time, I even build sort of airfield with strip on the island, and overall I enjoyed the game story and quests... but it is so poor when you remeber Fallout 3 and New Vegas :( the game was deeper and had more interesting and different quests, I personally hate these endless quests they did in F4. But I had to ate this all because I am huge Fallout fan I guess...

@avrora sounds like what I do when a new game is released that I’ve been anticipating. When the Phantom Liberty DLC dropped for Cyberpunk, I took a week off for it 😂 Building an airfield sounds intense, but quite the project. I haven’t played Fallout 3 or New Vegas yet! Looks like I’m going to have to check those out. Have you tried playing Fallout 76? I gave it a try, but every time I tried to create a base camp, the game would uproot it and I’d have to rebuild it every time I relaunched the game, so I just gave up playing altogether.

I had an idea for tonight’s blog, but promptly forgot it after smoking a bowl. Which is kind of funny because usually I don’t have an idea to begin with when I sit down and write these blog posts. Normally, I just will myself to start writing and just run with whatever comes out. But tonight I had an idea, and then lost it. Perhaps...

@alexislust Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation? I haven’t heard of it. I looked it up. It’s now in my queue, lol. I was never a fan of Game of Thrones, so you don’t have to convince me this book is better 😂 Have you read Three Body Problem? It’s sci-fi, also by a Chinese author. It’s pretty fuckin’ weird to begin but gets more fascinating as the story progresses. Sounds like you’re always working on refining your skills, with the nonfiction; that’s pretty powerful.
alexislust:
Oh, yes! Liu Qi Xin wrote something incredible! I have read the entire series of 3 books in a row. To be honest, this book inspires admiration and horror equally. The dark forest hypothesis has a place to be. I like the way the events were described through the prism of society. The events about the impending fleet of Three Solarians caused at first bewilderment, followed immediately by panic and fear, depression and finally acceptance. A century later (or two?) There was a belief that humanity would be able to fight on equal terms... The scene where the reconnaissance probe meets with the Earth's combat space fleet...Brrr, it still gives me goosebumps!
